Position Summary:
The Systems Engineer Tier 1 positions primary job is to provide assistance to the Support team to complete customer issues. The position includes accessing routers, multiplexers, switches and other network hardware that controls access for our customers, providing VoIP assistance to our Support and Sales teams to the levels of finding issues and resolving customer problems, as well as being the direct contact for VIP customers as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Assist Support department with advanced tickets and tasks
Answer inbound support calls from customers on an overflow basis
Provision new data and voice services in several types of hardware
Maintain firmware guidelines for customer premise equipment
Provide ongoing training to support techs on advanced issues
Help maintain Cisco, Alcatel (Lucent), Juniper and other network gear
Supply engineering support to VIP customers
Provide voice support to staff and customers
Help enforce security protocols for our staff and customers
Assist in maintaining servers (Linux and Windows)
Basic DNS maintenance as well as Domain registration work
Provide tech support to staff for office equipment and devices
Respond and repair network events on and off hours
Other duties as assigned

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and normal work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. As a core team member you are expected to put in the necessary hours to achieve the results you are being held accountable too. As a salaried employee, your compensation is tied to results and not the number of hours you spend accomplishing them (minimum wage laws notwithstanding).
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel will be expected for installations in extended areas of your territory or emergency repair situations.
