McKellar Tree Service and Logging, Inc., a California-based tree service and logging company, has been in collaboration with the USDA Forest Service for nearly 20 years, utilizing our heavy equipment in wildland firefighting operations since 2006. We have also completed numerous forestry, fuel break, vegetation management, and logging contracts, both large and small, in that same time period.
We are currently seeking an experienced Logging Equipment Operator with a verified track record of at least 10 years operating various forms of logging equipment, including Feller Bunchers, Processors, Skidders, Skidgines, Yarders, and Shovels. While a Class-A license and experience with equipment transportation are highly preferable, they are not mandatory. This role involves seasonal, short-term projects, as well as wildland firefighting operations during fire season, requiring a 24-hour response to fire calls. Travel to and from, and camping at the fire base-camp for 14-day shifts is required.
This position is ideal for semi-retired individuals seeking supplemental income while possessing financial stability during the off-season and having flexibility during fire season. We offer competitive compensation for candidates possessing the requisite skills and an appropriate lifestyle. Our flexible compensation program includes standard payroll, including overtime, and double-time pay as required. Additionally, for those who can provide liability insurance, subcontracting opportunities are available at higher daily rates.
