Description:

The Kitchen Manager reports directly to the Executive Chef regarding BOH operations. They are responsible for the overall operations for the Back of House and kitchen area of the restaurant. The Kitchen Manager will supervise kitchen staff, manage inventory and supplies, and ensure Team Members are trained on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques. They will also monitor food costs & ingredient quality and adjust supplies & vendors as needed, in coordination with the BOH management team.

Responsibilities:

-Hires, develops, directs, and supervises Team Members to maintain the integrity of Local Ocean as well as the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, organization, and sanitation.

-Creates and oversees scheduling, staffing, and cross-training needs of the back of house.

-Collaborates with the Facilities Solutions Manager regarding maintenance, repairs, and kitchen improvements.

-Coordinates with the Executive Chef in submitting orders for food and ingredients and monitoring product quality.

-Maintains inventory levels and conducts regular inventory counts.

-Serves in a variety BOH roles, including but not limited to expeditor to monitor menu item quality as well as presentation.

-Collaborates with the General Manager facilitating BOH & FOH communication as well as the Office & Human Resources Support Manager and Owner.

-Strictly enforces all Local Ocean Seafoods policies and procedures and disciplines employees as needed.

Qualifications:

-Conversational working proficiency in Spanish and English.

-Experience working in a managerial or supervisor capacity preferred.

-Current Food Handler's card.

-Basic computer skills. Preferred knowledge of Microsoft Office, POS, and use of an iPad.

-Reliable transportation.

-Excellent leadership and motivational skills.

-Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.

-Remains positive and calm in a fast-paced environment.

-Possesses creative organizational and problem-solving abilities.
