Oregon clips more than 40 million adipose fins each year to help fishermen distinguish between catch-able and protected fish. Clipping off the adipose fin to mark hatchery-grown fish is common practice in Oregon and across the Northwest.

To accomplish this, the Fin Clipper removes the hatchery fish's adipose fin to distinguish it from wild fish. The work is conducted in a specialized trailer on-site at the fish hatchery and the selected Associates must be comfortable working in an unheated trailer at the fish hatchery and working with fish.
