Full job description: TEMPORARY POSITION
1. Deliver mail/packages along an established route, by vehicle, on a regular schedule.
2. Become independently proficient preparing mail and packages in correct sequence for efficient delivery to mailboxes, customer's addresses or other designated package drop location.
3. Accurately sort and deliver current customer's mail and packages.
4. Handle undeliverable mail in accordance with established Postal procedures.
5. Learn to use a portable electronic scanner as instructed.
6. Collect outgoing mail from customers, street mailboxes or outgoing packages from customer addresses.
7. Deliver and collect charges on customs, postage-due, and C.O.D. mail matter. Deliver and obtain receipts for registered and certain insured mail. Sign out for such accountable matter, at the post office before beginning route and document for it upon return. Documenting the amounts collected and delivery of receipts taken.
8. Provide customers with Postal information, stamps, change of address cards and other postal forms as needed.
9. Ability to follow established rules of the road in a safe manner.
10. Deposit all collected outgoing mail and packages from the route in the proper outgoing collection area within the post office each day upon returning from the route.
11. Report to supervisor all unusual incidents or conditions while on the job including condition of street mailboxes and delivery equipment.
12. Work professionally with other people in the office.
13. Able to ask questions to clarify, and understand the work and responsibilities.
14. Capability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job (up to 70 pounds).
15. Must be able to pass a background check and be finger printed.
16. Must have a good driving record with no recent accidents.
17. Be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. A team player. Attention to details. Adaptable, Teachable, Stays calm under pressure, Thoughtful of others.
