Job Description: Shipyard

WCT Marine & Construction is currently seeking applicants for a variety of shipyard positions. WCT Marine & Construction is a family owned and operated shipyard in Astoria, Oregon. Located at North Tongue Point, with 75,000 square feet of shop space and 4.5 acres of yard space including a 1300’ pier and a haul-out ramp, WCT is able to take on a variety of projects all shapes and sizes. The company dedicated to providing top quality work to all customers while maintaining a safe and stable workplace for all employees. As employees gain experience within their field, they will be expected to take on new responsibilities and grow within the company.

Full time positions

General Laborer - $12-$18 DOE

This position will be called to perform all variety of tasks, both indoor and out. From assisting the journeymen to cleaning the shop, no two days will ever be the same. This is an entry level job with the only requirements being; strong work ethic, ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted, and the ability to pass a drug test.

Maintenance mechanic - $18+ DOE

This position is responsible for maintaining all the company vehicles, forklifts, and trailers. They will also be responsible for managing the tool room and maintaining all of the company’s fabrications tools and equipment, including, but not limited to: welders, grinders, hand tools, hydraulics, slip rolls, press brake, plasma cutters, air compressors, ironworkers, bandsaws.

Welder/Fabricator - $18+ DOE

Currently accepting applications from all skill levels. Welders will be called to work in a wide variety of conditions including, but not limited to: Inside the shop, outside the shop, on boats/barges, in tanks and confined spaces, at heights, portable welding and in all weather conditions. (Aluminum MIG is a huge plus, but not required)

Ability to pass AWS/ABS all position, unlimited thickness test plate (3g/4g – 1” A36) with FCAW-G.

Ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted

Ability to read a tape measure

Ability to perform basic math

Ability to read and write

Ability to pass a drug test

Part time positions

WCT is accepting applications for the following part-time positions. Part time positions are open to applicants seeking part time work in listed trade, also to experienced applicants who are interested in a full-time position but can work the part-time trades when called upon.

Sandblaster/Painters

Tugboat crew

Crane operators

Journeyman positions

WCT is accepting applications for the following full-time journeymen level positions. All applicants should have a minimum of four years of experience in the field. Wage will be negotiated on a case to case basis and dependent on experience and ability.

Ability to pass drug test and pre-employment physical

Reliable method of transportation

Forklift

CPR/First aid

Knowledge of maritime industry

Drivers license
