A clean driving record and background check are required. This position includes a substantial amount of physical activity. Dog handling requires the ability to supervise and ensure the safety of the group of dogs. An excellent understanding of dog body language and behavior is a must. This position requires an individual to be compassionate and patient. You must have the ability to pay attention to detail, clean, multitask and be skilled with time management. Cleaning up after the dogs is required of all staff. This position starts in NW Portland where our commercial vehicles are housed. You will pick up dogs at designated meeting locations in Portland as well as some door to door pick up. You will then drive the dogs in our company shuttle to our farm in Vernonia, OR. Once at our farm, you will work alongside our team of handlers, hiking with the dogs in our fenced acreage. This job requires the ability to monitor the dogs and their behaviors to ensure their safety and well being, guiding the dogs on the hike, while picking up after them. Each handler posts numerous photos of the dogs day on social media using a company provided phone.This position does include poop scooping, cleaning shuttles, and kennels. At the end of the exercise time, dogs are rinsed off and towel dried, then you and the dogs head back to Portland in our shuttle. Dogs are dropped off at designated locations/times as well as some door to door. This position finishes in NW Portland, where the company shuttles are housed. This is a service-based position, which requires working holidays. Please email us your resume. This position requires the following minimum:
Ability to lift up to 60lbs, hike, clean kennels, shuttles and perform various physical farm duties as well as poop scoop up after the dogs.
Ability to pass a background check and meet the driving requirements and pass the commercial insurance standards.
Excellent customer service skills, team player, and willingness to learn about dog behavior and develop handling skills
Experience working with multiple (more than 10)dogs at a time is required. Horse experience preferred, but not required
Ability to participate in social media posting
Commitment to work holidays and some weekends.
