Who we are:

Thriving Wildflowers is a new, home-based community preschool and childcare in the Woodstock neighborhood. We are inspired by a variety of respectful childhood education styles including Reggio Emilia, the work of Magda Gerber (RIE), Montessori, Waldorf, and even gentle parenting. We believe kids thrive with respect, age appropriate independence, creative exploration, and plenty of time outside.

We value respect for all people and our environment; experience based, curiosity led learning; environmental stewardship; and active participation in our local communities. Our vision is to help every child build a strong foundation in life for social, emotional, and academic success by providing a sense of safety, trust, and belonging in a culturally responsive and inclusive learning community.

Who you are:

You genuinely enjoy exploring the world with children ages five and under. You embrace a respectful style of interaction with everyone, including honoring the humanity of children of all ages. You are curious, creative, and excited to guide children in discovering their own passions through interest-led, play-based learning opportunities. You are a collaborative person who believes it truly takes a village to raise a child and are enthusiastic about welcoming parents and other family members to be a part of our preschool community.

Your Experience and Skills:

You have experience working with groups of kids as young as 12 months old, with an emphasis on experience with ages three to five years old.

You are comfortable planning and leading a wide range of activities including art, science, life skills, music and movement.

You have experience with adapting lessons to meet the interests and developmental needs of both individual children and the group as a whole.

You are familiar with and interested in further embracing respect-based early childhood education philosophies.

You maintain a calm, reassuring presence even in a childcare and preschool setting that can sometimes become loud or chaotic.

You model respectful interactions for children and are comfortable guiding them in learning to interact respectfully with others, our equipment, the environments, and our community as a whole.

You are comfortable communicating with parents and other staff in English, both written and verbal, although multilingual abilities are also valued and appreciated.

You are comfortable supervising other staff or volunteers (formally or informally), including asking for help and delegating duties as needed.

You may have additional skills and interests such as playing an instrument, being multilingual, or knowing a specific craft that you are interested in sharing with our pre-school community. We love to incorporate the skills and interests of our community members, including staff.
