Outdoor/ Farm School Substitute Preschool Teacher Needed

Vacancy expired!

We are seeking a substitute teacher for our outdoor preschool in Sandy, Oregon. This position has potential to turn into a part time position for Fall.

A little bit about our school.

We are primarily outdoors and located on a farm. The only time spent indoors is in our barn classroom which is still very much outside as it is not totally enclosed.

We are very hands on, experiential type learning with an emphasis on play.

We love kids and want them to be able to be kids. If kids climbing, jumping in mud puddles, getting dirty, petting worms, or other sorts of free play activity make you nervous, this would be a stressful environment for you and not a good fit.

We are very strong believers in the importance of spending time in nature.

We mix traditional preschool experiences with our outdoor education, which means that we complete art projects, work on preparation for kindergarten, have a traditional circle time, and sing lots of songs.

We are like a family (and also run by a family) so we are very personal with our clients and want both children and teachers to feel loved, welcome, and that they are receiving value in their preschool education and career.

We are a small operation with 4 teachers where we all work as a team.

We are located on 68 acres of forest, field and ponds. We have free-range to explore these environments and it is a magical place full of endless nature and learning opportunities.

We have sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, and mini horses. We help the preschoolers to care for our animals.

Hours we need subs:

Mon- 8:30 or 9am - 1:30pm

Tues- 9am - 1:30pm

Wed- 8:30 or 9am -1 or 1:30pm

Thurs 8:30 or 9am- 1 or 1:30pm

Requirements:

Our priority is that you absolutely love kids. Preschool children are the best! They are inquisitive, sweet, and hilarious humans, but they are also still learning and may sometimes have some difficult moments. We want someone that can be patient and loving through momentary difficulties.

The next requirement is a love for the outdoors. Since we spend so much time outside, if you do not like to be outside you will not like this job, especially when winter comes.

A team player that works well with others. Communication is key to our team and an ability to communicate and help each other out is vital.

Friendly and professional to parents and students.

Ability to clean, organize, and complete daily tasks.

Ability to help care for farm animals, including cleaning stalls and chicken coop.
