Vesper School of Music is hiring part-time guitar and piano teachers!
We are seeking passionate and skilled guitar and piano instructors for in-person lessons at our SE Belmont location. Consistent Wednesday through Saturday availability is required.
Established in 2013, Vesper School of Music is one of Portland's top music schools, known for its innovative, community-focused environment, exceptional quality lessons, and dedicated students and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Teach private guitar and/or piano lessons to students ages 5 through adult, tailoring instruction to individual learning styles.
- Cover key aspects of musicianship, including technique, musicality, music literacy, tone, and artistry.
- Teach a variety of musical styles and techniques.
- Provide clear weekly practice assignments to students.
- Arrange or compose music for students when necessary.
- Prepare students for performances—Vesper hosts two formal recitals and multiple performance opportunities each year.
- Communicate professionally with students and parents via email regarding lesson-related questions.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of private music teaching experience with children and adults.
- Bachelor’s degree in music is preferred, but alternative professional backgrounds will be considered.
- Willingness to grow a student roster gradually.
- Ability to contribute to our growing guitar program: Vesper School of Music is primarily known for piano instruction, but we are excited to continue expanding our guitar offerings.

Training Period:
A paid training period is provided before teaching begins.
