Alex is a 28 year old, limited speaking Autistic man looking for a buddy. Alex loves to go out in the community and I will pay you to go out with him!
Must be able to drive, bonus if you have a car, we will pay for mileage (must have car insurance). We can supply a car if needed.
Alex loves hikes, walks in our local parks, trips to rivers and generally exploring. Alex is generally cooperative and thrives on being as independent as possible.
We are looking for 15-30 hours a week. Days and times are very flexible.
Who are we looking for? Someone that loves being out and about in our amazing city and neighboring nature. You are comfortable navigating trails and maps and enjoy being outside year round .
Alex can have occasionally have episodes of being overwhelmed, this doesn't throw you and you are able to give him the space and support he needs to re-set.
Experience with Autism is NOT necessarily required. We offer full training, mentoring and support. What is needed is an openness to learning about Autism, thinking outside the box and focusing on being a partner (not a boss).
Alex can also have down days where he needs deep rest to rest and regroup. These days can include "hanging out" and helping him with his weekly chores. Alex takes a lot of pride in being as independent as possible and thrives on practicing taking care of himself.
