Job Description

Job Summary:

Shriners Hospitals for Children – Portland is seeking a full-time Clinical Psychologist to join our team! This position assesses, monitors and provides treatment for the psychosocial needs of patients and families that are referred by physicians or other patient care staff. This position is responsible for assisting healthcare workers in care of orthopedic plastic surgery, rehabilitation and chronic pain patients treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs age appropriate assessments and monitors psychology needs of referred patients and families
  • Provides individual, group, parental and/or family counseling to select persons
  • Develops and maintains counseling support groups for selected patient populations on an ongoing basis
  • Provides consultation regarding the development of interventions for behavioral and pain management
  • Provides appropriate clinical referrals as needed
  • Coordinates and implements in-service training for staff regarding psychosocial issues related to patient care
  • Assists in developing handbooks, newsletters and educational materials to educate patients anf families, staff and colleagues about coping with adjustment to disabilities

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree in Psychology is required
  • Professional License in the state of Oregon is required
  • 2 years’ experience in the clinical psychology field is required
  • Pediatric clinical or Rehabilitation Psychology experience is required
  • Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Clinical or Rehabilitation Psychology is preferred
  • Strong customer service philosophy and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
