Job Summary:Provide high quality health care to Kaiser Permanente members in a cost effective manner and in accordance with accepted professional practice standards.Essential Responsibilities:
Provide direct assessment, diagnosis and formulation/implementation of treatment plan for patients presenting with Substance Use Disorders, including those experiencing substance withdrawal syndromes. Outpatient responsibilities include histories and physicals, ordering diagnostic labs, studies and medications, screening and treatment when appropriate for co- occurring physical and mental disorders, and making appropriate referrals.
Evaluate and manage patients for Medication Assisted treatment of Addiction. Cross cover physician team, provide back up for high volume of Medication Assisted Treatment patients, provide evaluation and review of Medication refill requests, and work in conjunction with multi- disciplinary teams (MD, Nursing and Counseling) to assist in managing Medication Assisted Treatment population.
Provide inpatient care by rounding on Addiction Medicine patients during mornings and weekends. Responsibilities include writing post-discharge orders, charting follow-up notes. Dictate all discharge summaries and write discharge orders for follow-up care in the clinic. Performs other duties as requested.
Responsible for the examination and documentation of the medical and clinical admission criteria and determination of detox treatment. Works in close coordination with other treatment team members to implement appropriate treatment regimens for clients. Performs and documents history and physical on all patients. Medically evaluate patients for withdrawal, determine detoxification necessity, and determine ASAM level of detoxification care (Outpatient or Inpatient). Admit and manage patients in Inpatient detoxification settings. Evaluate and refer patients to Methadone Maintenance programs as indicated. Maintain hospital privileges at Sunnyside and Westside Medical Center, and other contract facilities as needed. Serve as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD), providing consultation and coordination of inpatient detoxification admissions from department offices or Emergency Departments region wide. Perform Standby Call duties include being available for consultation and disposition of Kaiser members seeking chemical dependency treatment during and after regular work hours, for entire Kaiser NW Region and including non-Kaiser facilities treating Kaiser members, such as non-Kaiser emergency departments, ICUs, psychiatric hospitals, and outside clinics. Call involves 1 weekend/ month and 4 week days/month of 24 hr call. Perform weekend hospital rounding on detox and residential patients at Brookside, when on call. Evaluate and manage medical needs of Brookside residential patients. Review and triage department referrals from Primary Care and other departments. Contribute to training of ancillary and support staff. Participate and provide supervision and guidance to MD and PA residents, as scheduled, throughout the year.
Basic Qualifications:Experience
Minimum two (2) years working in Primary Care or Specialty Care.
Minimum one (1) year of experience treating patients requiring medication assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders
Education
Graduate of approved Nurse Practitioner program, Physician Assistant program or equivalent requirements to meet State licensure.
License, Certification, Registration
This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License (Washington) within 6 months of hire AND Nurse Practitioner National Certificate AND Nurse Practitioner License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire

Additional Requirements:
Compact License is acceptable in lieu of a Washington RN license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in Addiction or Psychiatric setting.
Notes:
This position could have rotating on-call hospital shifts.
On-call variable shifts; work locations include East Instate, Brookside on Sunnyside campus.
