Senior Archaeologist

AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Archaeologist to join our Cultural Resources practice.  This position will report to the Pacific Northwest Archaeology Group Director and will support the coordination with AECOM’s cultural resources teams operating out of our Portland, Oregon office.This is an on-call as needed position.  The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Managing projects with large-scale field efforts (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring) and intensive schedulesManaging and executing archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and/or GIS mapping.Working thoughtfully and efficiently both independently and as part of a larger cultural resources team.Operating as primary author or senior reviewer, as appropriate.Supervising personnel in the field, office, and laboratory, as needed.Performing project management duties such as forecasting, tracking, accounting updates, invoicing, progress reports, and scheduling.Reviewing contracts for understanding of scope, fee, schedule, and deliverables, and all other contractual obligationsDeveloping work breakdown structure for control and integrity of work to be performed as and defined by the contract.Monitoring and analyzing project costs, commitments, accruals, and changes, and taking corrective action where necessaryLiaising and developing positive relationships with clients and other stakeholdersKnowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act.Organizing data in an efficient and clear manner.Handling multiple tasks and communicating priorities to the Cultural Resources Regional Lead.Operating as primary point of contact for clients and resource agencies on projects, as neededPerforming client management duties such as recurring status meetings, milestone check ins, and day-to-day interfacing.Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects, including occasional travel.Innovation and a problem solving.Supporting career development of individuals in the practiceSuccessfully preparing competitive proposalsParticipating in interviews with large or small teams for a variety of clientsContributing to growth of practice through business developmentAbout AECOM’s Environment Business Line
