DescriptionReceives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer. Performs a variety of intermediate level technical security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigates reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; responds and assists in restraining patients; detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provides protective services to high risk areas. Successful completion of one of the following:
Certified law enforcement academy, such as corrections, police, reserve or military police, or Completion of certified military training or
Healthcare Security Officer Advanced or Supervisor Certification through IAHSS.
Successful completion of 5 additional FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses from Security Services Approved Course List.

3 years Experience in security or law enforcement in lieu of associates degree
Experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.

Associate's Degree
College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.
Direct patient experience in a healthcare industry.
