The Joel Palmer House Restaurant is seeking a chef with fine dining experience who is eager to take on a leadership role and develop a long term relationship. There is no immediate need to fill this position and please do not respond if you are not familiar with our restaurant or aren't aware of our location.

Compensation:

A weekly-paid, salaried position ranging from $5,000/month during slow season to $7,500/month during the busy season. (about $90k/year)

Benefits Part 1:

This full-time position entitles you to 100% (company paid) medical and dental insurance. Also, we offer a 401K program with matching.

Benefits Part 2:

This is an independently-owned restaurant. There are no shareholders or investors. Because of our +100 years of experience and reputation, we have the flexibility and freedom to chase perfection and catch excellence. This position is designed for a chef who is willing to work hard yet eager to earn the primary role in one of our nation's most established restaurants.

Benefits Part 3: We are closed on most major holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.) and we have a 1-week summer vacation and 2-week winter vacation. We are closed Sunday and Mondays. We pay weekly and are a gratuity-free restaurant.

1. Familiarize yourself with The Joel Palmer House Restaurant and The Oregon Wine Industry.

2. Study our menu and prepare to discuss what your approach would be with developing it.

3. Send an email to Chef Christopher with a plan to do a paid-day-long cooking demo and interview

Your Questions:

How does the pay system work?

Answer: Payroll is processed weekly. We do not permit gratuity or tips of any kind. Everyone is paid weekly.

THIS salaried position is also paid weekly based on the negotiable description above.

How long would my commute be?

Answer: This depends on you. Strongly consider it before submitting your resume.

How much creative freedom will I have?

Answer: As long as your take into consideration FLAVOR, our history, seasonality, labor costs, and food costs, you will have a lot of freedom. Chef/Owner Christopher Czarnecki is your only "boss" but we will expect you to respect your team and their capabilities.

This is not a 1-person show.

I'm considering relocating, will you help pay for it?

Answer: No.
