Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to join our team as a Farm Hand & Farmers Market Vendor. This dynamic role involves working hands-on in our garden, assisting with crop cultivation, and representing our farm and orchard at local farmers market. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about sustainable agriculture, knowledgeable about produce, and passionate about customer service.
Farm Hand Duties:
- Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting fruits, vegetables, and other crops.
- Coordinate with the Chef about what is being harvested and when for our weekly breakfast menus.
- Perform daily farm maintenance tasks such as weeding, watering, and fertilizing.
- Operate farm equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Monitor crops for signs of pest or disease and report findings promptly.
- Assist with livestock care, including feeding, watering, and general upkeep.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in fields and facilities.
Farmers Market Vendor Duties:
- Transport produce and goods to local farmers markets
- Set up and dismantle market stalls, ensuring attractive and organized product displays.
- Provide excellent customer service, engage with customers, and build relationships.
- Educate customers on the origin, handling, and benefits of our farm produce.
- Manage financial transactions using cash or POS systems.
- Monitor inventory levels and report market trends to the farm management team.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in farming, agriculture, or market sales preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices and organic farming preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to transport goods.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Ideal candidate also has experience working in a professional kitchen.
Working Conditions:
- Physical work is required, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Work hours may vary according to the seasonal demands of the farm and market schedules.
- Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
