Live sushi bar at local grocery store!
Origami Catering is a Portland-based company that provides grab & go sushi and other Asian cuisine for grocery markets, schools, hospitals, and corporate dining. Our mission is to create exciting solutions with food.
We are looking for a Sushi Chef to oversee a sushi bar within a grocery store! This position requires sushi making and customer service skills. This position is in Vancouver, WA.
Position: F/T Sushi Chef
Pay Range: $23-27/hour (based on experience/evaluation)
Status: 5 days/week (including one weekend day)
Shift: 8:30am-5:30pm
Job duties:
- Oversee all aspects of running the sushi bar within a grocery store
- Follow recipes and proper cooking techniques to produce beautiful sushi and other related items
- Provide incredible customer service (engage with and educate customers)
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces, merchandising cases, equipment, and utensils
- Place orders to our commissary kitchen
- Lead the team, ensure all employees are properly handling products and using equipment in accordance with food safety guidelines and state/local regulations
- Be friendly, positive, and have a team mindset
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a commercial/restaurant kitchen
- 2+ years of experience making sushi
- 1+ year of experience of customer service/customer facing work
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- WA Food Handler's card required (within one week from start date)
- Can stand for the full shift and lift 50 lbs
- Dependable, punctual, and can work with a sense of urgency
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and general computer skills
- Must wear non-slip shoes
