Westside Sleep Center is owned and directed by Scott D. Fromherz, MD. Dr. Fromherz completed his medical training at Georgetown Medical Center and his Neurology Residency at Stanford Medical Center. He went on to complete 2-year Sleep Medicine Clinical and Research Fellowship at Stanford University under the tutelage of some of the world's most renowned Sleep Medicine physicians. In 2005, Dr. Fromherz returned to his native Oregon where he has been in private practice and working as a consultant or medical director for several area sleep centers. In June 2007, Dr. Fromherz founded Westside Sleep Center, a 4-bed, state-of-the-art sleep facility that serves patients for consults, follow-up, sleep studies and durable medical equipment services.

Job responsibilities:
HST Coordinator
Responsible for all office Home Sleep Testing (HST) operations under direction of Medical Director
Provides exceptional customer service to patients through friendly, caring, informative and professional interactions; anticipates patient needs and responds quickly to patient requests
Sets up Home Sleep Tests (HSTs); downloads HSTs
Trains/educates patients as to the proper usage of HST equipment
Handles scheduled and unscheduled appointments and telephone calls for HST questions, troubleshooting, and setup
Scores HSTs
Mails HST devices to patients
Provides Backup To DME Coordinator
CPAP/BiPAP/ASV setups
Sets CPAP/BiPAP equipment to prescribed pressure
Performs mask fitting; performs refitting as necessary
Distributes DME equipment (ships when necessary)
Fulfills orders in a timely fashion
Performs downloads on CPAP/BiPAP machines and Cards
Prepares DME prescriptions
Forwards prescriptions and appropriate documentation to external DME providers in accordance with patient’s insurance where Center cannot provide DME services
Keeps accurate and detailed encounter notes in chart
Requests and tracks prior authorizations as required by insurance
Acquires all clinical information necessary to acquire authorizations and complete a referral
Completes DME billing forms and forwards to billing department
Tracks and completes billing forms for CPAP/BiPAP capped rentals
Maintains DME replacement program tracking, follow up, and shipping
Works with DME vendors to handle equipment defects and warranty issues, maintains relationships and vendor contact information; Pursues competitive pricing from vendors when requested by Medical Director
Manages DME inventory including performing trend analysis, tracking "checked out" inventory, and maintaining appropriate stock supply at all times
Tests CPAP/BiPAP equipment
Keeps DME office and storage organized, clean, and labeled
Receives, tests, cleans, and maintains inventory of hardship equipment donations
Maintains DME pricing list
Researches and stays abreast of advances in DME technology
Serves as back-up receptionist and completes other administrative duties as assigned; Cross-trains in other departments as requested
Cleans and disinfects CPAP/BIPAP equipment
May occasionally score in-lab studies and cover overnight or daytime study shifts as requested
Performs all other duties and training as assigned
The successful candidate will possess excellent patient-care skills, strong technical and clinical skills, have strong initiative and follow-up, attention to detail, effective oral and written communication skills and be able to prioritize and manage time efficiently. Must be well organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to follow directions and adhere to company and sleep laboratory procedures and protocols. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and produce timely and accurate work. Strong computer skills and the ability to continually learn and update existing computer and technical skills is a must. The ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and to work cooperatively with peers is essential. Must take on additional work as needed and be willing to perform work outside of regular job duties, as assigned.
Successful candidate must be a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Must have Respiratory Therapist and Polysomnographic Technologist License through the Oregon Health Licensing Board. Sleep DME and HST experience preferred. A minimum of a HS diploma or equivalent (GED) is required, however, some post secondary or college education in science or health-related area is preferred.
