Seeking full-time live-in caregiver for female 87-year old stroke patient on Kauai, Hawaii. Ideal candidate will receive a monthly stipend, air ticket to Hawaii, room and board, food, WiFi, and paid time off in exchange for caregiving services which includes: morning rising, preparation for adult day car (van picks patient up at 8AM), toilet transfer, wheelchair transfer, assistance with bathing, light meal preparation, dressing, company/conversation, medicine organization and dispensation, laundry (washing machine, but line dry only), light housekeeping, and bedtime tuck-in. Patient attends Adult Day Care from 8:00AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday (holidays excluded) so ideal candidate will have time off at that time. Patient is able to feed herself, perform toilet duties (but needs assistance get onto and off off toilet). Will only accept female candidates. Prior caregiving experience preferred, but not necessary. Must be gentle as patient is paralyzed on left side of body, but can walk with caregiver and hemi-walker assistance. Seeking minimum three month commitment. Will complete paid training with before becoming permanent. Ideal candidate should be a non-smoker, can tolerate humid weather, can function with inconsistent sleep patterns, is physically able to mobilize patient, can independently solve small problems and make logical decisions, and is an early riser like the patient. Non-negotiables are: No pets and no overnight guests to the house. Position may include the use of a car if candidate has valid driver's license and clean driving record. Candidate must be able to tolerate tropical climate weather and be emotionally strong (e.g., can push through home sickness, distance from family, adjust to a new environment, etc.).
