Phoenix Farm, a Hunter / Jumper facility in Portland, OR is seeking to fill a part-time (Sat - Tues., 230-7pm) Equestrian Stable Hand role.
Responsibilities:
General duties for equine stable management, including, but not limited to;
Feeding - prepping grain, throwing hay, cleaning and filling waters
Turnout - executing a daily turnout schedule by leading horses to and from assigned paddocks; Maintaining cleanliness of turnouts, including water troughs
Facilities - Daily upkeep to all of our indoor areas (barn aisle, tackrooms, bathrooms, laundry)
Seasonal - blanketing, fly masks and fly spray
Qualifications:
Self-motivated, team player
A passion for organization and tidiness with a strong attention to detail
Reliable with own form of transportation - no nearby public transit
Experience with horses desired, but not required
Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be at least 18 years old and be able to lift 40 pounds
Benefits
$16+ p/hour depending on experience with opportunities for bonus
While this is not a training position, experience with horses is preferred but not required. Opportunity for riding as well as education in grooming and other areas of stable management available to the right person.
