We are a local farm operation looking for a drug-free, hard working and focused farm hand for part-time work. Current needs are for three days a week, 6-7 hours per day (18-20 hrs per week). Work days would start at 8am and run until 2pm. Ideal work schedule would be tues/wed/thurs but can work with the right person if different days are needed.
This position completes tasks that may be done in a group, or completed alone, so bring a pair of headphones for music or podcasts. This would be a great job for someone just out of school, looking for summer work, or anyone interested in working with their hands and the earth. Ideally, we would like the right person to return every May-September to work with us again. but a one season thing is also cool.
Daily work would consist of
- Weeding; pulling weeds from current crops, using hand hoes, pitchforks etc.
- Wheelbarrow work; moving woodchips, spent crops, and supplies around the farm
- Laying down landscape fabric; burning holes using a torch into landscape fabric
- Washing trays and rubbermaid totes
- Washing vegetables and packing them into totes
- Laying drip irrigation when needed
- Harvesting when needed
- Planting when needed

While we would prefer someone with farm experience, the right person can be trained for the job.
The first two weeks of work would be a paid training work, and determination if you got the job would be made after those two weeks.
