Shop Mechanic/Welder
We are a family-owned business with a long-term history of work in the Vancouver/Portland metro area and we are looking for self-motivated, dependable shop mechanic to help keeping us up and going with our fleet vehicles and equipment and to grow with us.
Qualifications
Visual acuity needed for close detail work.
Mental dexterity needed as Mechanic/Welder will work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.
Qualifications High School diploma or GED certification preferred but not required.
Preferred 5 years’ experience of vehicle maintenance (Gas and Diesel) and welding and fabrication experience also required.
Ability to fabricate custom made contraptions.
Responsibilities
The Candidate is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment by conducting quality control analysis to evaluate performance while ensuring that all his/her efforts are compliant with company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Duties may include the operations associated with the recognition, set up, and operations of hand and power welding tools.
The Mechanic/welder must possess knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively, and efficiently decreases accidents and errors.
Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors in and around our shop of operation.
Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding process to avoid overheating of parts or wrapping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
Record repairs and maintenance performed.
Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Special projects provide assistance throughout the yard as needed.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Communicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.
Interpersonal contacts direct contact with owner and manager as well as field employees.
Communicates via face-to-face interactions
Workload may be unpredictable, and pressure can be substantial during peak times.
Disturbances of workflow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent bass.
