Laceleaf Maples is looking to fill a unique role on our tree farm. The ideal candidate will not only have experience with the meticulous pruning and care requirements involved with Japanese Maples, but a passion for Bonsai style trees. A strong knowledge of horticulture, an artistic eye for detail and the occasional ability to communicate with suppliers from South-East Asia and abroad will serve you well as we expand into more specialized markets and diversify our portfolio. This is a quality over quantity position where our focus is on producing the absolute best maples on the West Coast for our discerning clients
Position: Pruner - Bonsai Specialist
You will use your artistic skills to create unique tree designs that reflect traditional and modern Bonsai forms.
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Duration: The position is temporary with an expected duration of 1 year - with the possibility of extending to 3 years if required.
Compensation: TBD based on experience
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
History of working with Bonsai style trees
Multi-language skills a huge plus
Job Expectations:
Pruning and shaping of rare maples into Bonsai style trees for display
Root pruning, leaf reduction and wiring
Frequent watering and maintenance
Strong understanding of tree health and disease prevention
Training / education of our staff
Record keeping and inventory tracking
Work Environment: Mostly outdoor work and controlled greenhouse environments
