Employment Type: Seasonal (Part-time/Full-time, Now - November 25)
Open Positions: Up to 3 General Laborers (including opportunities for certified Boom Lift Operators)
Job Summary
As a Seasonal General Laborer, you'll play a crucial role in transforming Portland International Raceway into a winter spectacle. This hands-on position involves setting up and dismantling an impressive array of light displays, decorations, and animated features along the 2-mile racetrack for our family-friendly drive-through experience. Work is primarily outdoors in Portland's variable winter weather, offering a dynamic role that combines physical labor, technical troubleshooting, and teamwork. Expect a fast-paced setup phase in early November, followed by maintenance during the event run, and a thorough teardown in early January. No prior event experience? No problem—we provide training!
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and install over 250 light displays, decorations, and animated scenes around the racetrack, including securing light lines, tunnels, archways, and themed elements like the 16-foot ice princess or penguin fields.
Ensure proper alignment, electrical connections, and stability of all installations to create a seamless, safe 35-minute drive-through experience.
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues (e.g., faulty lights or wiring), and conduct daily inspections to keep displays in top condition throughout the event.
Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and Boom Lift Operators to complete setups and tear-downs efficiently and on schedule, adhering to safety protocols.
Dismantle all displays post-event, properly store equipment, and assist with site cleanup to prepare the racetrack for its next use.
