Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic, confident, detail-oriented and proactive Litigation Paralegal to join our growing legal team.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various areas of law, including plaintiffs' consumer protection litigation and insurance litigation representing policyholders, and will be responsible for supporting attorneys in all phases of litigation. This role requires self-initiative, exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, good client relationship skills, excellent professional written and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, and a commitment to providing high-quality legal support. We are a close team, treat each other well, have fun and work at a fast pace. Our office is located in downtown Newberg, Oregon.
Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing case files and drafting necessary documents.
Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents to support ongoing litigation efforts.
Interview clients and witnesses to gather pertinent information for cases while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Prepare discovery documents, including responding to, and propounding, interrogatories and requests for production of documents.
Maintain communication with clients regarding case status and updates while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits and witness lists as needed.
Ensure deadlines are properly calendared within our case management system.
Conduct new case intake calls with prospective clients.
Perform data entry tasks related to case management to streamline processes within the firm.
Skills
Strong knowledge of plaintiffs' litigation preferred, especially with respect to discovery.
Proficient in legal case management software such as Trialworks and Clio.
Excellent interviewing skills with the ability to extract relevant information effectively from clients and prospective clients.
Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently.
Effective communication skills with a focus on professional phone etiquette.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Familiarity with litigation processes and procedures is essential.
Experience in both California and Oregon litigation highly preferred.
Professional paralegal certification preferred, but not required with sufficient demonstrable experience.
