A local company doing custom metal fabrication is seeking a Shop Supervisor. This position oversees the production and quality of metal products and components in a fabrication shop. They are responsible for managing the staff, equipment, materials, and safety of the fabrication process.
Responsibilities include:
Plan, assign, and supervise the work of fabrication staff, such as welders, cutters, fitters, and machinists
Ensure that the fabrication projects meet the required specifications and deadlines
Monitor and inspect the quality and accuracy of the fabricated products and components
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or problems that arise during the fabrication process
Maintain and enforce the compliance with safety and environmental regulations and standards
Train and mentor new and existing fabrication staff on the best practices and techniques of metal fabrication
Coordinate and communicate with other departments, such as engineering, operations and purchasing, to ensure smooth workflow and quality work
Evaluate and improve the fabrication methods, equipment, and productivity
Qualifications for this position are:
High school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for post-secondary education in metal fabrication, welding, engineering, or related fields
Several years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or related fields, with a proven track record of leadership and supervision
Knowledge and skills in metal fabrication techniques, such as cutting, bending, forming, welding, and finishing
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
Proficiency in using metal fabrication tools and equipment, such as saws, drills, torches, grinders, plasma cutters, robotic welders and brake presses
Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations and standards, such as L&I, OSHA and EPA
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and problem-solve
Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy
