The Opportunity

OPB’s dynamic Membership team is recruiting a Manager of Membership Programs. Your curiosity, creativity, and strategic and analytical skills will help OPB acquire, engage and retain our members, who make everything OPB does possible. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about learning more about OPB’s public media service, inspiring our audiences to explore and support our content, and building and maintaining relationships with our members. You’ll manage and create timely, accurate, engaging and persuasive communications, track results, and act on opportunities. You’ll be working with a welcoming, smart, engaged, innovative, collaborative and supportive team.

Position Details

This position manages activities that support and drive member retention for OPB and KMHD, including mail, email and telemarketing communications, retention and cultivation focused events, and other cultivation and stewardship activities. This position also manages strategies and execution of matching gift, employee giving, and vehicle donation programs, including vendor management. Part of a collaborative, retention focused team, this person is responsible for detailed and technical work, process improvement, as well as contributing to strategy and campaign development and execution for member retention and communications.

Responsibilities

30% - Manage member retention focused direct mail, e-mail and other efforts for OPB and KMHD.

Provide general oversight of Campaign Production Coordinator’s production of standard direct mail and telemarketing files to ensure accuracy.

Develop and distribute regular analysis reports related to renewal and recapture results.

Manage a comprehensive testing plan for retention related email solicitations. Coordinate production of ad hoc mail and email campaigns and series in support of retention efforts, evaluating results and overseeing volunteers as necessary.

Strategize, source, write content for, copy edit and create the weekly Insider enewsletter and other emails and member communications. Involves collaboration with Membership, Marketing, Content and Corporate Support.

Manage updates to renewal mail segmentation.

Edit and create monthly KMHD Jazz notes enewsletter

Assist with the identification and review of vendors related to retention efforts.

Manage production and mailing of acknowledgements for memorial gifts, gift memberships and gifts made in someone’s honor.

20% - Manage OPB’s and KMHD’s sustainer program communications

Manage the production of ad hoc sustainer communications including EFT conversion solicitations, Sustainer Thank You Post Card and E-Card, on-air spots and various cultivation and retention efforts.

Develop and distribute regular analysis reports related to sustainer activity, including acquisition, attrition, upgrades, declines and cancellations.

Use OPB’s CRM and marketing automation tools to segment lists and work with OPB vendors to manage regular communications with sustainers including mail and telemarketing payment method decline notifications and acknowledgements.

Collaborate with the membership team to identify strategic or process improvements and assist with the implementation of those improvements.

20% - Manage OPB and KMHD vehicle donation programs

Develop and manage strategy, promotion, legal issues, contract, acknowledgement materials, quality control, vendor management.

Provide excellent customer service for high-level cases. Advise Member Center on all other cases. Manage vehicle donation acknowledgements and tax receipts and guide the ongoing evolution of those processes.

Develop and distribute regular analysis reports related to vehicle donation program trends.

Manage production and deployment of acquisition, cultivation, and retention communications for vehicle donors.

Collaborate with the membership team to identify strategic or process improvements and assist with the implementation of those improvements.

10% - Manage OPB and KMHD matching gifts and workplace giving programs

Manage strategy and promotion

Provide customer service to members giving through their workplace and collaborate with the Assistant Director, Member Experience to ensure front line customer service staff have the information they need.

Coordinate and represent OPB at in-person or virtual promotional events for workplace giving or request and train volunteers to do so.

Develop and produce regular reminders and acknowledgements.

Process matching gift forms and add information and make updates to workplace giving and matching gift contributions.

Maintain matching and workplace giving company registration profiles.

Collaborate with the membership team to identify strategic or process improvements and assist with the implementation of those improvements.

10% - Manage member events including Thank a Member Day/Week and other cultivation and retention events.

Coordinate Thank a Member Day/Week, including managing call data, recruiting and supervising callers, writing scripts and on-air spot copy.

Collaborate with Volunteer Manager to recruit and support volunteers at events.

10% - Other duties

Manage OPB member list exchanges: review and approve requests for use of OPB’s list by other nonprofits.

Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position spends most of the time working during regular office hours Monday through Friday and is a hybrid position, working 1 day a week in the Portland, OR, office with extensive use of a computer and telephone. Evening or weekend work may be required to carry out events and meetings. Some activities may require moving up to 25 lbs. Some travel may be required. Occasional out-of-state travel may occur for conferences.

Minimum Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):

Four years professional experience in an administrative, customer service, or project management role or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.

Two years marketing or non-profit fundraising experience.

Excellent communication skills and ability to interface in a cordial, professional and well-informed manner with OPB staff, donors, leaders, potential funders and vendors.

Experience utilizing Salesforce or other database systems to select and export accurate customer data.

Fluency with standard computer software tools in business applications (Microsoft Office), and interest and ability to pick up new tools and systems quickly.

Organized and detail oriented, with the ability to review data for accuracy.

Experience working collaboratively with a team to set and achieve goals.

A curious self-starter with the ability and desire to learn new skills, assume new duties, and identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement.

Solutions oriented with an eye toward problem solving and systematic improvement.

Ability to carry projects forward independently with appropriate direction and judgment and anticipate and mitigate problems.

Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information and interactions.

Enthusiasm for fundraising and sustaining the mission of OPB.

Preferred Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):

Excellent writing and copy-editing skills with experience authoring copy for marketing or development emails, letters, blogs, landing pages, or other solicitation or donor communications.

Experience managing small event logistics, coordinating event teams.

Experience in a fundraising setting or working with donors in a non-profit environment or high-level clients in a corporate workplace.

Experience with RedPoint, Marketing Cloud, Pardot, or other marketing data tools.

Familiarity with the Oregon and Southern Washington market.

Familiarity with public media. Genuine interest in OPB's public service mission, values and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Belonging objectives.

Experience managing volunteers.

Additional Information

This position reports to the Director of Membership Fundraising & Retention and is benefits eligible.

The probable hiring range for this exempt position is between $56,000 - $66,000 depending on qualifications.
