We are recruiting a Community Service Specialist to join our team and help create enriching social and work experiences for adults with diverse abilities in our communities.

As a Community Service Specialist, you will be a key player in enriching the well-being and resilience of individuals with diverse abilities. This role involves providing direct support to community members, facilitating group activities, and collaborating with local and organizational resources to create a supportive and inclusive community experience. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, adaptable, community-oriented, and passionate about cultivating independence for adults with diverse abilities. You will contribute to creating a supportive and welcoming community for those we serve.

Requirements

Serve as mentor to assigned participants by developing a clear and concise individualized activity plan for each

participant, sharing that plan with other CSS so that activities can be oriented to the participant’s desires and

abilities.

Provide daily support to a group of individuals based on schedules and events developed by the CSS team and

approved by the Program Manager.

Maintain current case records, incident reports, and monthly progress notes required by law or at the request of the

Community Services Program Manager.

Manage and de-escalate behavior issues for assigned participants, including, but not limited to, client anger

management, conflict resolution, coping with anxiety, and specific behaviors addressed in the participant’s ISP plan

or formal behavior protocol.

Administer medications and attend to individual medical needs of assigned participants, including first aid as

appropriate.

Assisting with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene needs, safely supporting individuals with lunch

and snacks, toileting, and client transfer from wheelchairs when using a restroom or when transfer was necessary.

Must be able to lift and transfer individuals as requested safely.

Experience Desired for This Position:

High school diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of experience instructing/supervising individuals with developmental disabilities.

Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication.

The ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record and have a reliable, insurable means of transportation.

Must pass a DHS background check.

Applicants must be willing to undergo pre-employment drug testing. (THC Excluded)

Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
