Office support person needed for multiple tasks

Hello,

We're a small company of 12 employees in Newberg, looking for a person to help us in many facets of our business. We've found that a number of our employees end up with too much on their plates sometimes and we could use some backup in those cases. The person we're looking for would be bouncing from task to task as needed to support a few different parts of our company.

You would be providing support as needed for our accounting person, our customer service person, shipping and receiving, component inspection and packaging, our IT person, administration tasks, and providing support to the laser engraving portion of our business.

Your duties would include answering phones in a polite and professional manner, taking messages or transferring calls, data entry, photocopying, scanning documents, packing and unpacking products for shipment, assisting with order entry, filing, faxing documents, cleaning & wrapping finished products, sweeping and straightening work areas, taking out recycling, running errands to get supplies, making an occasional delivery, and more.

We have a very casual environment with respect to attire, but we strive to give a professional impression to our customer base. We have some walk-in customers. but most of our business is spread across the USA and globally, so most interaction is done by phone and Email. We might request that you pay particular attention to your attire on days we're expecting visitors, but this is not common.

We're not exactly sure how all of this will play out, as we have never hired for this position before, but we are willing to commit to you being a full-time employee, even if your duties run lean from time to time. We expect a full-time commitment from you in the same regard. Your hours would be 8-5 Monday through Friday. We don't have public transportation, so having a vehicle and a valid driver's license is a requirement. There will not be any overtime or weekend work.

There are no specialized skill requirements for this position, but it is important that you have good computer skills, and the more experience you have with MS Office-related products, the better. There is not a lot of heavy lifting in the shipping & receiving department, but it would be a plus if you're able to comfortably lift packages weighing 40+ pounds. There are no special phone skills needed as our phone system is fairly simple, but clear and polite phone etiquette is a must.

Above all, we're looking for someone with a positive attitude who is willing to take on a variety of duties with a positive attitude. All of us are willing to do whatever is needed at the office, which could include anything from tidying the bathroom or lunchroom, sweeping, cleaning walls & windows, etc. These would not be part of your typical daily routine, but we want to hire someone who will willingly and cheerfully take on anything that needs to be handled. We have a great team now and it is imperative that you're reliable and can interface well on a personal basis with our group. The morale in our company is excellent now and we are not willing to sacrifice that.

The job is full-time and you'd be hired on a 90-day probation period. After the probation period, you'd be eligible for full-time benefits, like health care, flex time (vacation/sick pay), and more. We prefer to hire someone who lives in Newberg or close to it. The starting wage is $18.00 with a small increase after 90 days, based on merit.
