Job Title: Purchasing Director

Position Overview:
An Industry leading cannabis company is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Purchasing Director to lead and manage our multi-state purchasing department. The Purchasing Director will be responsible for sourcing and procuring products across three states, ensuring inventory levels meet demand while achieving sales and profit margin goals. This role will require close collaboration with multiple departments to optimize stocking levels and manage supplier relationships to meet our company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
-Multi-State Purchasing: Oversee and manage all purchasing activities across three states, ensuring consistent supply chain operations and compliance with state regulations.
-Team Leadership: Lead and manage the purchasing department, including training, performance management, and growth of purchasing staff.
-Sales & Profit Margins: Align purchasing strategies with sales goals and profit margin targets, ensuring optimal product selection and competitive pricing.
-Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain appropriate stocking levels to meet customer demand while minimizing excess inventory and reducing carrying costs.
-Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely product delivery and favorable terms.
-Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends, new product opportunities, and competitive pricing strategies.
-Budget Management: Oversee the purchasing budget and develop cost-saving initiatives while ensuring quality and compliance with internal standards.
-Compliance: Ensure all procurement processes comply with local, state, and federal regulations, particularly in relation to cannabis products.
-Reporting: Develop and present regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and market trends to senior management.
Qualifications:
-Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or procurement. Experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.
-Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
Skills:
-Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
-Proven ability to manage purchasing across multiple states or locations.
-Expertise in inventory management and supplier relations.
-Excellent financial acumen with a focus on maintaining profit margins.
-Strong leadership and team management abilities.
-Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the cannabis industry is a plus.
-Software Proficiency: Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement software.
