Powell's Books Retail Distribution Center (Warehouse) Level I or II

Powell's Books, the nation's top independent bookseller, is looking to fill several full-time Regular Retail Distribution Center (Warehouse) Level I or II positions at our NW Portland warehouse.

Our Retail Distribution Center (RDC) positions are an excellent way to get your foot in the door of the world of books and gifts, and learn the book business from the ground up. Our warehouse is the heartbeat of Powell’s, ensuring that our physical stores, website, and customers have the books and gifts that bring knowledge, joy, and escape to our customers. Once you gain experience in an RDC Level I or II role, a wide array of opportunities open to you, since we frequently promote from within. There are more senior positions within RDC, both for lead staff positions and management roles, as well as other opportunities around the company.

These positions will be on the Replenishment team.

Positions within the Replenishment team offer a unique opportunity to work both at our Retail Distribution Center and at the Powell’s Burnside location. They work primarily with Used and Remainder product, and offer a rare opportunity to work with the entire life cycle of a book from dock to a customer’s hand. This includes work at the Industrial warehouse which involves, but is not limited to, receiving Remainder inventory for displays and sections, efficiently distributing stock for all stores, and utilizing title knowledge by selecting titles for displays and tracking sales performance of the store displays. It also includes the opportunity to spend time at the Burnside store working with Used & Remainder displays, ensuring they are successfully merchandised to attract customers and sales. Replenishment team members collaborate as a team while also handling independent tasks and decision-making. These roles also entail assisting with other duties within the Industrial Warehouse as needed. It is a dynamic and multifaceted role within the retail and inventory environments, that involves many essential aspects of bookselling and foundational Powell’s process knowledge.

Generous healthcare plan (medical, vision, and dental)
