At Zappallas, our Operations team is responsible for designing, operating and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our network of sites: Tarot.com, DailyHoroscope.com, Numerology.com and Twittascope.com - across mobile, tablet, and desktop platforms. Responsibilities

- Day-to-day maintenance tasks from software updates, to replacing failed hardware, to investigating alerts, to optimizing and automating software/hardware configurations.

- Participate in architecture and planning discussions, as we modernize and scale our platform.

- Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems.

- Monitor system daily operations to detect potential problem and ensure high availability and minimize downtime.

- Provide analysis, development, and operation of complete computer systems. Perform ongoing hardware/software maintenance operations, including installing or upgrading hardware or software.

- Configure servers to meet functional specifications.

- Maintain the ability to adapt quickly to many functional environments, meet deadlines, work independently, and as a team member.

- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

- On call rotation

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

- 3-5+ years experience in Linux-based Infrastructure Engineering (Debian/CentOS), Software Engineering, Systems Administration, SRE, or similar roles

- Knowledge of at least three of the following skill-sets within IT Operations: Linux, Networking, Scripting and Automation, Application troubleshooting

- Working knowledge of a wide range of technologies - including virtualized environment (VMware), configuration management tools (Chef), web deliverability (Apache, Nginx, HAproxy, Memcached), database infrastructure (Postres, Mysql, Redis)

- Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (Nagios, Munin, Syslog, Logstash, ELK)

- Love for troubleshooting complex systems issues in real-time.

- Understanding of security best practices

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

- System monitoring services, such as Nagios and Prometheus

- Familiar with Terraform for developing, changing and versioning infrastructure safely and efficiently.

- Application lifecycle management

- Experience in automation with scripting or programming languages such as Bash, Python, Java, and JavaScript.

- Experience running container infrastructure
