Job title: Technical Writer
At Cirrus Link Solutions, we develop software products that leverage MQTT and other IIoT technologies to connect, transport, and manage data across many different industries. We pride ourselves on delivering real solutions and supporting SCADA integrators in meeting their IIoT needs.
At Cirrus Link, you’ll be exposed to many different technologies: embedded systems, cloud platforms, on-premises solutions, distributed systems, and more. We are a small but quickly growing team and looking for self-motivated, inquisitive, problem-solving individuals to take the company to the next level.
As a technical writer for Cirrus Link, you’ll specialize in creating clear and concise documentation for complex technical information and training materials. You must understand the impact you’ll create on the bottom line and the valuable role you’ll play in the company by transforming intricate concepts, procedures, and product specifications into user-friendly and accessible content for improved usability and optimal user experience.
Responsibilities
Gathering and researching technical information from subject matter experts, relevant external sources, and internal contacts
Installing and using the software being documented to understand and describe the flows and gather screenshots
Organizing and structuring technical content for internal and end-user consumption, ensuring clarity, easy reading, and accessibility for the target audience
Writing and editing various types of technical documentation such as user manuals, user documentation, tutorials, user guides, specifications, and instruction manuals
Collaborating with our engineering and development team to gather necessary information and better understand complex information
Reviewing and revising documentation for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines
Incorporating visual aids, such as diagrams, screenshots, and illustrations, to enhance the understanding of technical information
Requirements
Strong attention to detail
Polite and professional communication style, even if under pressure
Being flexible when priorities and plans change due to unforeseen circumstances
Works well in a distributed team - this position is in-office only but we have a team out of state as well
Proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading product documentation in English
Proven writing experience with FAQs, user guides, or manuals in a technical field
Knowledge of best technical writing practices, including style guides and industry standards, as well as the technical skills to understand the software development life cycle (SDLC) and project workflow
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
Proficiency in using graphics editing software and screen capture tools for creating visuals and illustrations is preferred
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new software, technologies, and subject matters
Knowledge/experience with any of the following a plus:

Industrial protocols (such as Modbus, Canbus, EFM protocols, HART, BACnet, etc)
IIoT
Linux OS and Mac OS, and Windows OS

Google Protocol Buffers
Network Security
Jira and Confluence
Cloud Platform and Cloud Deployment Experience (such as AWS, Azure, etc)
Education and Experience Required:
BS or equivalent in a IT/writing related field
Previous technical writing experience a plus

Full-time/permanent after 90-day trial period
