Automotive Service Manager - Independent Shop

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Automotive Service Manager to join our team at an independent auto repair shop. This role requires the ability to manager by example, set expectations, and hold others accountable. Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service.

Manage service team, including mechanics, technicians, and customer service staff.

Provide leadership, coaching, and support to ensure team success and high morale.

Monitor repair orders, customer interactions, and ensure work is completed on time and within budget.

Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction by greeting customers and assessing their automotive service needs, addressing issues, explaining service procedures, providing accurate estimates and status of their vehicles during the repair process.

Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts, labor, and billing.

Oversee inventory control, ordering parts, and managing supplies to meet shop demands.

Conducting quality control inspections to ensure that all services meet established standards

Collaborating with other leads/management to troubleshoot challenging problems

Develop and implement service promotions, pricing strategies, and customer loyalty programs.

Actively participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of staff based on store needs and ensure all employees are properly trained on the job.

Responsible for financial performance. Look for opportunities to grow the business and improve profitability, customer retention, and net sales.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and industry best practices. Ensuring that safety protocols and guidelines are followed by all technicians

Qualifications:

Proven experience as an Automotive Service Manager or in a similar role within the automotive repair industry.

Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems, repairs, and diagnostics. Familiarity with automotive service processes and terminology is essential.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers

Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

Outgoing personality with expertise in managing a team by demonstrating kindness and optimism, work ethic, self-awareness and integrity

Ability to manage multiple tasks and appointments efficiently, maintaining accurate records and schedules

Proficiency in using computer systems, including POS software, appointment scheduling software, and basic office software

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
