CNC LASER OPERATOR

Position Summary:

Set up, load, adjust and operate a multiple torch CNC Plasma/Oxy-fuel Burning Machine to produce metal parts to specified shapes and tolerances.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Confirm order requirements are met, including the proper selection of job priority, material, cutting method, speeds, etc.

2. First Article Inspection on all production runs to specified tolerances and dimensions.

3. End product quality, including dimensional conformance, cut edge quality, squareness of cut, etc.

4. Machine productivity, efficiency, and safe operation.

5. Material yield and utilization.

6. Make machine adjustments and program edits to optimize production quality and efficiency.

7. Feed back to CNC Programmer relative to program accuracy and efficiency.

8. Record changes made from “standard” in programming, cutting medium, machine adjustments, etc.

9. Routine maintenance, care, and cleaning of equipment and work area.

10. Training of new employees.

11. Fill out necessary forms and paperwork, including routing sheets, time cards, production reports, etc.

12. Mark all cut product with appropriate job order and routing information. Ensure proper

routing of all cut material to the next workstation occurs.

13. Handle material with use of overhead crane and forklift.

14. Management selection and replacement of consumables.

15. Perform all work functions within established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.

16. Other work as assigned by Supervisor.

Physical Requirements/Environment:

1. Ability to lift 50 lbs., physically load and unload product from table.

2. Environment has moderate heat, noise and fume exposure.

3. Moderate physical requirements.

4. Full time hearing protection required.

Education/Experience:

 Minimum of three months operational experience with previous CNC equipment or burning

experience preferred.

 Must understand basic oxy-fuel and plasma cutting technology and capabilities.

 Reading, basic math, and dimensional knowledge required. Able to read English SAE and

metric tapes and micrometers.

 Full understanding of material flow and specifications.
