The Company:
Deform NW is a small but growing Commercial General Contractor in SE Portland who is looking to hire a Commercial Superintendent. Most of our work is negotiated and is in the $250,000 through $3 million range with a focus on the Metro/Portland area. Projects include tenant improvements for offices, restaurants, and breweries, seismic upgrades, adaptive reuse, whole building renovation, new multi-story, and mixed-use projects.
The Position:
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all onsite operations for construction.
Responsibilities would include:
*Aggressive scheduling of the project using the critical path to ensure timely completion
*Schedule and coordinate building department and special inspections
*Supervision of Subcontractors, Vendors, and Employees
*Working knowledge of the all the construction documents: including plans, specifications, contract, subcontracts, submittals, communications, RFI's, ASI's and submittals.
*Certify that all work is performed as per the project documents, contract, and subcontracts and that all subcontractors perform all the work in their scope.
*Identify and communicate conflicts and issues in construction and documentation.
*Identify quality control, performance, and safety issues notify the responsible parties and ensure that all deficiencies have been corrected.
*Hold weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
*Hold weekly safety meetings
*Perform and document preconstruction orientation for all workers on site.
*Maintain daily written and photo logs.
Required experience and skills:
*Proven track record with specific examples of at least five years' experience in successfully supervising commercial construction projects on time and budget.
*Proven effective leadership and team leading experience with a focus on problem-solving; emotional stability, and open to new ideas and feedback.
*Professional in manner and communication, take responsibility for your actions and treat others with dignity and respect.
*Ability to plan, prioritize, delegate, and execute. Able to develop and implement realistic action plans.
*Ability to use common technology and software. Including cell phones, tablets, computers, scheduling, spreadsheets, and email.
*Ability to communicate clearly in writing as well as in person.
*Ability to read and understand blueprints.
*Proven record of being dependable, punctual, and responsible
*Demonstrable history of self-improvement
*A thorough understanding of the construction process and the work of the trades
