Steel fabrication company that focuses on a variety of projects for the construction, residential, industrial and marine industry is currently hiring for a SAWYER/SHOP HELPER (individuals with any welding or industrial machine operating experience highly encouraged to apply).
Looking for someone who is on the ball, can follow directions, has skills adequate to perform cutting, grinding, sanding, wire wheel cleaning or sandblasting of metal fabrications including ornamental iron, handrails, fences, gates, stairs and structural steel weldments. We are a small shop, with 14 years in business. We stay very busy, and need someone to hit the ground running, proficient with machine and hand tools, common sense, and safety. Pay is dependent on past related experience. We pay well for the right person and qualifications.
Job Duties:
-Operate various machinery in shop including large drill presses,100 ton press, ironworker, saws, torch, cranes and forklifts.
-General understanding or shop drawings.
-Set-up machines, select material, perform duties with speed and accuracy.
-Carry out written assignments, read and understand bills of material, lay out by template or otherwise within capabilities.
-Responsible for daily care and maintenance of equipment and tools.
-Perform miscellaneous duties as requested including grinding, tack welding, cutting and processing small parts, cleaning steel, etc.
Qualifications:
-Must have performed helper duties and prior shop experience.
-Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules and regulations.
-General mathematical skills for counting, layout, nesting materials etc.
-Ability to lift, carry, or maneuver heavy objects. Difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower.
