Your Role:
As a Trailer Mechanic, you"ll play a crucial role in keeping our fleet in top condition. You will handle preventative maintenance and minor repairs on semi-truck trailers with minimal supervision. Your duties will include performing Federal Highway Inspections, light welding, brake repair, electrical system maintenance, minor body repairs, and tire & wheel repairs.
What You"ll Do:
Collaborate: Participate in daily huddles with the Service Manager and operations team to plan equipment orders.
Document: Utilize our Maintenance system to record all tasks performed.
Inspect: Carry out safety and legally required inspections (FHWA/BIT).
Operate: Drive yard hostler and manage equipment movement as needed.
Fabricate: Perform welding and fabrication tasks when necessary.
Stay Safe: Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
What We"re Looking For:
Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED with at least one year of trailer mechanic experience; additional relevant training or experience is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in welding, brake inspection and repair, FHWA inspections, and ABS troubleshooting.
Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to perform body repairs, brake inspections, and suspension component diagnostics.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift over 50 lbs, climb ladders, and use industrial equipment.
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Certifications: Brake training certification preferred.
