We are a maintenance and operations company in the Portland Metro area looking to immediately hire a Utility Mechanic. This position is to be filled by an individual with general maintenance skills and will be responsible for non-specialized maintenance service tasks (changing filters, changing light bulbs, repairing restroom or kitchen equipment, general equipment cleaning, preventative maintenance, painting, hanging pictures, etc.). The Utility Mechanic may also be
experienced and cross trained and possess additional work skills in order to assist the other team members in the performing of more specialized tasks. There is always room for advancement within the company.
We currently service four federal buildings in the area. There is a work vehicle for employee use during work hours for traveling between buildings and/or getting tools, supplies, or parts.
The schedule is Monday through Friday, with an eight hour shift in the timeframe of 0600-1800. There is a paid, rotating on-call schedule in which each technician will be available for after-hours emergencies. Uniforms are provided, but you must supply your own footwear; steel/composite toe not required.
This is a union position with medical, dental, vision, and pension being paid through the union. Monthly dues are automatically deducted from employee payroll. Employees get 56 hours of paid sick leave per year, and can rollover 56 hours at the end of the year if they have it available. After six months employees have 40 hours of vacation, and after a year of service they will have 80 hours. Vacation is earned on an accrual for hours worked, and a max of 80 hours can be rolled over into the next year if not used. 11 paid holidays. Employees also receive a monthly parking reimbursement, as parking is not available at the home location.
