Art Handler & Shuttle Driver
Art Handlers are responsible for applying knowledge of the principles of art care and the value of art, high quality control and a strong work ethic in safely transporting and installing artworks. This position partners with other Artech professionals in providing excellent customer service to our clients and exceeding client expectations. This position will also drive for Artech’s week-long fine art shuttle that moves art freight from around the western United States.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect artworks to determine how, where, when, or if to handle, and how to pack for transport, selecting the proper archival and other packing materials depending upon the medium, surfaces, condition and fragility of the artworks.
Load artworks onto the trucks ensuring pieces are properly wrapped, loaded, and tied in to keep them safe and stable during transport.
Move art to and from loading dock, storage facilities, and trucks.
Prepare trucks for job scheduled for the day ensuring all necessary materials, tools and equipment are available and ready for use.
Pick up and deliver a variety of artworks including paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works of all descriptions.
Install artworks professionally in settings ranging from corporate to residential, including selection of proper hardware and exercise of aesthetic judgment as needed while adhering to Artech’s standards for art installation and quality control
Provide excellent customer service to clients; consults with client regarding the care of their collection as appropriate.
Strictly adhere to all Artech and client non-disclosure agreements to maintain the utmost level of discretion and confidentiality.
Prepare condition reports and photograph artworks when required.
Complete critical paperwork such as inventories and bills of lading with accuracy and attention to detail.
Partner with team members in a seamless way, taking leadership and direction as needed to complete installation and transport.
Drive to multiple assigned locations using the most efficient and safest routing.
Maintain strict compliance with DOT commercial driver requirements including maintaining 100% compliance on Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports and Hours of Service logs.
Maintain jobsites, trucks, and ensure the warehouse is clean, professional, and work ready.
Properly complete and file written records.
Adhere to all Artech safety and security policies. Report any and all concerns to manager immediately.
Maintain full compliance with TSA screening requirements, including all screening documentation, training and maintaining accurate training logs, and performing all tasks and checks to maintain our CCSF classification.
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of art handling experience, including, but not limited to commercial art handling companies, galleries, museums,high-volume studios, or private collection environments
2+ years operating a commercial motor vehicle
Excellent customer service skills
Must work well in a team driving situation
Attention to detail
Must pass full background screening
Possess a valid U.S. passport or enhanced ID and have no problems crossing international borders
Ability to lift 75lbs
