DRIVER

The Driver will work with Purchasing, Project Managers, Facilities Manager, and job site supervisors to deliver, organize and stage products to job sites, warehouse, and office. This entry-level position will also assist with job site clean-up as needed. The Driver role is often the most visible member of the Hawthorne Tile staff and must develop a strong rapport with vendors, homeowners, and contractors, in addition to the entire Hawthorne Tile team. You will also assist with the organization and maintenance of the facility, grounds, and vehicles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Driving, lifting, loading, delivering, off-loading & staging materials; usually manual on- and off-loading is required.

Pick up materials from suppliers and deliver to project jobsites.

Verify complex orders against order confirmations for accuracy.

Use cell phone, following cell phone safety protocols, to report on and resolve order issues with Manager

Understand how to safely secure and unload equipment and materials.

Safety is paramount and drivers must be able to plan appropriately.

Maintain simple records of deliveries and pick-ups

Regularly and repetitively lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds, using proper lifting techniques.

Ability to move freely about our facility or jobsites, climb stairs, stoop, bend, kneel, stand and walk for extended periods of time up to and over 8 hours a day.

Responding to emails & texts from a cell phone or laptop; staying in regular communication with your supervisor throughout the day.

Performing additional responsibilities at jobsites and our warehouse when required.

Work with Facilities Manager performing various maintenance and upkeep on all equipment.

Clean both the interior and exterior of the delivery vehicle on a daily basis

SCOPE OF WORK:

The job duties are to be performed fairly independently while reporting directly to your supervisor. While the job does have some reoccurring tasks, it includes duties that involve a moderate degree of complexity due to the nature of delivery driver work.

The person must be familiar with traffic laws, following maps, and general knowledge of the Portland-Metro area. Good judgement, efficient time management, and a high level of professionalism are extremely important as it affects the smooth operations of the entire company and our reputation at large.

REQUIREMENTS:

High School or GED

Valid Driver’s License required

3-year MVR with acceptable driving record

EXPERIENCE:

Required: None

Preferred: 6 months of experience as delivery driver and/or warehouse work

TRANSPORTATION:

Required: access to reliable transportation and valid driver’s license

Employment based on driver insurability
