We are pleased to announce a career opportunity for an Assistant Production Manager at our location on the waterfront in Bellingham, Washington.

Job Summary: The Assistant Production Manager will set and monitor product standards and examine samples of finished products to ensure they are of prescribed quality. The Assistant Production Manager understands the customer's needs and requirements and coordinates employee efforts and communications between management and the production teams.

Work Schedule: 8 am to 5 pm, Mon-Fri

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and industry best practices.

Monitor the production run to make sure that it stays on schedule and correct any problems that may arise.

Inspect materials, products and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

Identify any deviations from quality standards and seek to uncover patterns and root causes of quality deficiencies; provide insights for quality improvements.

Inspect the final output, comparing it to the requirements, and approve or reject the final product.

Develop and maintain a strong product knowledge base (species, grades, etc.).

Conduct supplier audits to evaluate the quality of materials, components and services procured from external vendors.

Provide hands-on support to the team, assisting with set-up, troubleshooting and process improvement.

Qualifications

Strong observational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills are required.

Proficiency in MS Office (especially Word, Excel, Outlook).

Work Environment

Position works both in an office and in a manufacturing environment. Will be exposed to occupational hazards, including, but not limited to, high noise levels, dust particles, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, extremes of hot and cold temperatures, exhaust fumes and steam. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, masks, and appropriate footwear.

Employee will be required to climb ladders, work from raised platforms and in confined spaces, and operate heavy equipment, including industrial vehicles, such as forklifts.
