POSITION PURPOSE:
The Commercial Construction Employee is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks on commercial construction sites. This role involves ensuring that construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards. The employee will be involved in various aspects of the construction process, including site preparation, building, installation, and cleanup.
Position Duties:
Assist with site setup and preparation, including clearing debris and ensuring the site is ready for construction work.
Help with the unloading and organizing of materials and tools.
Perform various construction tasks, including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical work, and general labor.
Operate machinery such as forklifts, cranes, or backhoes, if certified.
Install building structures, equipment, and fixtures (doors, windows, lighting, plumbing, etc.).
Help with framing, drywall installation, flooring, and other building construction duties.
Follow all safety guidelines and practices, ensuring a safe work environment for oneself and others on the site.
Report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors.
Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant laws.
Work closely with other construction workers, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure project goals are met.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members about project status, delays, or issues.
Maintain and clean construction tools and equipment regularly.
Ensure that all tools and equipment are functioning properly before use.
Provide support in completing the project on schedule, which may involve long hours or weekend work.
Assist in performing quality control checks to ensure the work meets project specifications.
Assist in site cleanup after project completion, ensuring the site is free of debris and materials.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training or certifications in construction-related fields is a plus.
Previous experience in commercial construction or a related field is preferred. On-the-job training may be provided.
Certifications in specific construction skills (e.g., forklift operation, first aid, OSHA) may be required.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, tools, and equipment.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and project specifications.
Good physical stamina, able to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
