South Valley Engineering is a small engineering company located in Salem, Oregon and has been serving the northwest since 2010. In that short time we have established a broad and loyal client base that is continuing to expand as more and more people discover us through the internet and referrals from satisfied customers. We are looking to bring on more team members to allow us to continue to serve our clients and maintain our excellent reputation. Responsibilities:
Provide engineering support for designers and drafters to produce complete and accurate structural design packages for post frame buildings
Assist engineers with calculations for post frame buildings using Excel and other structural engineering software
Performs drafting and design work for building components of post-frame and standard wood frame construction projects using AutoCAD LT
Producing plans from information provided by clients using established internal drafting procedures and engineering calculations
Has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Has the ability to read, interpret, and draft new and modify existing AutoCAD drawings
Working effectively and efficiently both independently and as a part of a team
Must have a high degree of attention to detail
Other responsibilities including answering phones, processing & scheduling jobs, and working directly with clients
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited school and successful passage of the FE exam (civil degree preferred). Preference given to PE licensed, but not mandatory. EIT candidates should be or be able to become qualified to sit for the PE exam. NOTE: ONLY APPLICANTS WITH THIS EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION
Basic computer knowledge with Microsoft Office, i.e. Word and Excel. Some computer networking or IT experience would be a plus
Basic knowledge with AutoCad or AutoCad LT and drafting experience, either through work or classroom experience
Experience in wood frame and/or post-frame construction desirable but we are willing to train the right person
Excellent and professional communication skills, both with colleagues and with the general public
Self-motivated and can work both independently and as part of a team
Enjoys people and has a sense of humor!
