A family-owned OEM located in Salem, Oregon has an immediate need for a Mechanical Designer/Drafter with solid understanding of drafting methods using Inventor and AutoCAD.
All applicants must have:
Experience preparing shop fabrication drawings
Ability to think in 3D and communicate ideas with sketches
Ability to make accurate drawings in high-pressure, multi-task situations
Ability to learn and retain Standard Operating Procedure's (SOP's)
Ability to assist with quoting and ordering drawings/other parts
Willingness to take on additional duties and responsibilities
Willingness to work overtime on short notice

In your cover letter, describe your understanding of the equipment manufacturing process and list any "hands-on" background working with automated machinery, welded structural steel assemblies, sheet metal and/or custom machined parts. Highlight any design knowledge like fan and motor sizing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, machinery controls, dimpled water jackets, etc.
The successful applicant will also need the following: a). . . an entrepreneurial spirit with ability to take and give constructive feedback, b). . . the ability to solve problems independently and manage a workload of multiple projects and tasks, and c). . . the ability to travel occasionally.
We will consider independent contractors and those who may wish to work a second job evenings and weekends.
