Here, you go.Job Summary:The person hired for the position of Design Solutions Specialist will be responsible for engaging design influencers, engineers and specification writers to drive Industrial Adhesives and Tapes division (IATD) projects from exploration to specification. They will work closely with the key decision makers to identify requirements, develop projects, fill the opportunity pipeline, achieve design specifications, and close sales globally. This role will drive IATD’s solutions at US based design centers and coordinate to support global production through 3M’s distribution and converting channels. The Design Solutions Specialist will act as project leader on these sales opportunities and are responsible for coordinating Application Engineers, Technical Service and Marketing resources to support these opportunities when needed. The person hired will be trained to advanced levels on the following products/technologies: Double Coated and Adhesive Transfer Tapes, VHB™ Tapes, Structural Adhesives, Specialty Single Coated Tapes and other related technologies.This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Specify 3M products on engineering drawings & provide support required to transition business to manufacturing locations throughout zones, regions, and subsidiaries
Engage Industrial designers, design influencers and engineers to develop a hopper of projects to move from exploration to production
Ability to build strong collaborative relationship with your customers
Supports 3M new product development process with 3M IATD lab to meet OEM application requirements
Work through complex tier and manufacturing supply chain
Ability to manage complex situations & prioritize sales opportunity
Manages project process through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Database
Company VehicleThis position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this positionBasic Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum of five (5) years of combined Application Engineering, Technical Sales and/or Marketing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Current, Valid Drivers license is required, as you will be issued a company vehicle for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven track record in technical sales or application engineering
Prior experience with Pressure Sensitive Adhesives and Structural Adhesive technology
Strong communications and organizational skills
Experience working in a specification-based industry
Experience with OEM, tier, contract manufacturers
Technical aptitude towards application development and replication
Ability to work as a team member in a matrix organization
