Looking for Line Cook/BOH staff!
A little bit about us:
We are a humble café, off the beaten path. If you’ve not yet herd (pun intended) of us yet, don’t let that scare you (we’re Salem’s best kept secret!) We’re only open Tue-Sun 8:30am-4pm, so NO late nights! Get home at a reasonable time & hang out with your pets, kids, family &/or that great book/game/whatever!
What we’re looking for:
An experienced line cook with the willingness to move off the line & help with other tasks now & then. So you can expect that you won’t always be on the line, we will ask you to help with cleaning, dishes, prep & other things that may come up.
We are currently looking for a mostly full-time person, about 34-36hrs/week, or that could be scaled back to part time, about 22-25hrs/week, if desired. Two+ years’ experience on the line preferred (& will result in a quicker pay raise), but we will consider those with less to no experience if the motivation & willingness is there!
And let’s talk about that pay! Base pay starts at $15, until we can assess skill & get you fully trained on our menu & processes (but that’s not all, keep reading!) ABOUT TIPS: we conduct a tip pool, which means the tips for the day are split up evenly among hourly staff. Most of the time you can expect at minimum $5/hr, or more, on top of your base pay! That’s just the low-end average however, it generally goes up from there, depending on the day. So if you have the skills & motivation, you can expect to start at around a minimum of $20/hour, +more on good to great days (& with skilled & dependable workers, we like to see you earning even more)! :D
Required Certification: Food Handler Permit (must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire); Optional: Alcohol Server Permit (if you would like to dabble with helping out with FOH)
Job Type: Full-time (or part time, if that works best)
Pay Rate: $15 /hour + equal part of tip pool
Benefits: PTO (includes sick leave), available for employees averaging min. of 25+ hrs/week
