Molalla River Academy Charter School is seeking a part-time custodian/maintenance person - approximately four hours per day, five days a week.
JOB OVERVIEW:
To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop. This includes performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and
other miscellaneous duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform housekeeping duties and basic equipment maintenance.
Communicate with Executive Director and faculty regarding various duties related to this position.
Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using an established practices and procedure.
Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
Makes rounds of buildings and grounds at regular intervals
Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
Attend to emergencies when necessary.
Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services.
Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies.
Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris.
Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors.
Makes minor repairs of equipment, furniture and fixtures.
Repairs electrical equipment as able, including fuses and the like.
Oversees the operations and repairs of HVAC, lighting, garbage, water, and sewage systems.
Handles emergency situation clean-ups, including blood and body fluid spills; false fire alarms; locked doors; broken glass; jammed or broken equipment; vandalism and the like.
Keeps accurate and appropriate records relative to job responsibilities.
Reports damage of school property to immediate supervisor.
Works cooperatively with students, parents, staff and community members to project a positive, service-oriented demeanor
Other assigned and seasonal duties as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Oregon driver's license and excellent driving required.
FBI Fingerprint clearance required.
Required health training: valid First Aid/CPR-AED cards; bloodborne pathogen and Epipen training.
Genuine enjoyment of working with students and adults in a school setting.
Outstanding communication skillsboth oral and writtenwhich are effective across a wide variety of audiences, including students, parents and staff.
General knowledge of communication tools, including phone systems and email
Technical competencies, including clerical, maintenance, landscaping, and the like.
EDUCATION/VOCATIONAL PREPARATION
Experience working with students in a school setting preferred.
Experience as a custodian in a school setting or related environment preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Moderate to extensive degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Ability to lift furniture, desks, shelving, staging and cleaning supplies and equipment. Frequent and prolonged standing, walking and bending. Ability to climb ladders, and stretch and bend to perform such duties as cleaning, repairing, painting, cleaning roofs, gutters and drains and general maintenance. Ability to move freely around the school building and grounds. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Exposure to chemicals, dirt, dust, and paint. Exposure to noise and activity levels associated with school life.
