Our organic family farm is looking for someone to join our crew for the summer and early fall. We are in rural Aurora, only a few minutes from Woodburn and Wilsonville!
The work involves sorting herbs for quality, weighing and packaging them for retail sale (packing crew), and helping harvest basil and other culinary herbs through October. May occasionally include light gardening work as well. We have a small crew of 5 or 6 people that work together to bring fresh local organic herbs to market here in Oregon. This is a seasonal job with the potential to become a part-time year-round position.
The sorting and packing work is done inside our new facility, and the harvesting is done early mornings in our greenhouses before the heat sets in.
Hours vary. Harvest days begin at 7:00am, and packing starts at 8:30am until we are done with the order, which is usually between 1:00 pm-4:00 pm. Sundays and Thursdays are our biggest packing days, and Wednesdays and Fridays are harvest days. We will try to accommodate any special day off requests. Summertime hours could be close to full-time, if desired.
Skills and requirements:
Ability to lift 20 pounds, good hand/eye coordination, attention to detail, and basic math skills.
For harvesting, you must be able to bend and kneel for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work at least Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mondays and Thursdays are optional.
Must have use of a vehicle: no public transportation is available as location is rural.
